The Origin

The feature of the park is a small hill, where Yoshimune Tokugawa – the 8th shogun ordered planners to plan a cherry tree park so the residences of Edo could enjoy it. Because of this story, people in Tokyo regard the park as one of the most popular places to see the beautiful cherry blossoms.

Festival Breakdown

The event is held from the late March through early April in Oji, Kita-Ku, Tokyo. The event lasts until cheery blossoms are over. The cherry trees add to the sacred but dynamic atmosphere of the place. About 600 cherry trees including Someiyoshino are waiting for you every spring and add some pink color to the spot. At night, there are a lot of small lanterns to let you see cherry blossoms at night. The night view creates an unforgettable atmosphere. Since the view is famous for 8 of top ten in the prefecture, it is worth seeing the scene in the early April if you have a chance.
