If you would like to see Japanese cherry blossoms not far from Tokyo, you should definitely visit Satte city. This city hosts an outstanding cherry blossoms event at Gongendo Sakura Tsutsumi, the most famous cherry blossoms viewing spot in Saitama prefecture. In the city, there is a unique road stretching for about 1km. Its sides feature over 1000 cherry trees. Thus, it looks like a long pink tunnel in spring. In addition, you will notice the rape fields along this road. Rape flowers are yellow. Undoubtingly pink and yellow colors make a beautiful contrast, and this scene will impress you for sure. In this article, I am going to tell you more about the “Sakura tunnel” and the cherry blossoms festival at Gongendo Park.

Sakura Road

In Japan, there is no such place as Gongendo where Sakura trees stretch along the road for over 1 km and creating a tunnel. Needless to say, you will get moved when seeing cherry blossoms. While walking through the beautiful tunnel, you can find that each of the trees has different features. Some trees are young and bloom cheerfully, other trees are old and stand quietly. For a while, you may be able to hear the voice of the trees, which will help you reach harmony with nature.

The Contrast

The cherry blossoms trees species – “Someiyoshino”, and small yellow flowers – “Nanohana” (rape) make a great contrast. The soft pastel pink colors of the cherry trees on the top and vivid yellow rape colors in the bottom create a truly magnificent picture! That is why people in Japan think that Gongendo is one of the most popular, if not the most, spots for viewing Sakura in Japan.

In addition, I suggest you stay in the park until its dark as the cherry trees will feature marvelous light up at night. This place will become a truly romantic paradise.

Sakura Festival

Between March 25th and April 9th, 2019, local people hold Sakura festival. This is a typical Japanese spring matsuri that features hundreds of various food stalls with festival food and drinks. The major purpose is to enjoy the beauty of nature of course. However, you will see thousands of people sitting under the cherry trees, having a picnic, and getting a bit tipsy. In addition, I suggest you join the exciting events such as tea parties and marathon. I am sure you will enjoy your day at a real Hanami (cherry blossoms viewing) with locals in Gongendo park.
