This is very traditional festival of a shrine in Chiba prefecture. Kazusa Junisha Festival is the oldest “Hamaori Shinto Ritual” of Boso Peninsula. “Hamaori Shinto Ritual” is held for “Marine Security” and “Good Catch Prayer” and Kazusa Junisha Festival is also known as “Hadaka Matsuri”. This has continued for 807 years ,and has been a tradition for over 1200 years.
Tamayorihimenomikoto(玉依姫命)of the Enshrined deity and her blood relatives meet again at the Tsurigasaki Coast (釣ヶ崎海岸) once a year , a very magnificant ritual. Also, Ugayafukiaezunomikoto(鵜草葺不合尊)of Ubu Shrine goes to meet Tamayorihimenomikoto（玉依姫命） of Tamasaki Shrine once a year , this is the story that handed down for origin of this fesitival. Every year on September 10th the festival starts , and “Hadaka Matsuri” is held on September 13th at the “Tsurigasaki Cast” southern tip of “Kujukurihama Coast”. This festival is “Intangible folk cultural property” of Chiba prefecture.
We can see sacred horse and horse-riding from the Shrine. Over 2500 young naked men, actually they are wearing Matsuri style clothes, while carrying MIKOSHI(portable shrine) on their shoulders , run on the beach. This scenery is overwhelming! Many people gather to watch that scene.

And there is free natural water we can get 24hours (no prepared bottle).”Good luck charms” of this shrine are known for women’s happiness and power to get over difficulties of life(in the same way as getting over waves). At the Tsurigasaki Coast ,we can enjoy “Baked Asian Hard Clam”. And also we can do beach seeing to catch fish, too. And the Tsurigasaki Coast is famous as the good place for surfing. Many surfers come here to ride waves. Here has been decided for 2020 Olympic game’s sports stadium of surfing.
I have been to Chiba Prefecture twice in my life. But I went to only the famous amusement park . If I visit to Chiba again , I want to go to “Tamasaki Shrine”and want to get Good Luck Charm . And I want to visit to “Tsurigasaki Coast” and I want to eat Baked Asian Hard Clam there.
