The Origin

Around Tokyo Midtown, there are over 100 cherry trees –including about 40 which used to belong to Ministry of Defense (formerly Japan Defense Agency). Tokyo Midtown was taking care of the environment as well, so it started to deal with planning and looking after those cherry trees from May 2013. The wonderful trees astonish viewers not only in the daytime, but also at night. In the evening, viewers enjoy seeing cherry trees in bloom and with the light-up.

The event is held in the late March through the early April in Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The event lasts until cheery blossoms are over. The cheery trees add awesome but dynamic atmosphere to the brilliant buildings surrounding. At night, light gives the cherry blossoms even more charm for you to see cherry blossoms and create a great mood. Because of the Midtown location, you can have fun seeing cherry blossoms, shopping, dining, etc. Thus, it is worth seeing the scene in the early April if you have a chance.
